ITC Chairman Mr YC Deveshwar has been conferred the Indian
Visionary — Business Leader Award by The Economic Times, India’s leading
business daily. Mr Deveshwar received the special award, instituted this year,
from the West Bengal Finance and Industry Minister, Mr Amit Mitra, at the
Economic Times Bengal Corporate Awards 2015 ceremony in Kolkata on February
14.
Mr Deveshwar received the award for being the
country’s most visionary corporate leader who has made “significant
contribution to business growth, organisational transformation and setting
forth examples of industry initiatives and trends”. He was selected from among
264 entries received in 5 categories.
In other news, Mr Deveshwar has been conferred the
Management Man of the Year Award by the Bombay Management Association (BMA),
one of India's oldest and premier Management Associations. Mr Deveshwar
received the award at a glittering ceremony in Mumbai on February 16, 2015.
The award was conferred on Mr Deveshwar in recognition of
his contribution to entrepreneurship,
the management movement and the Indian Industry.
The awards are not based purely on numbers and financial
statements but also on the value addition the organisations and individuals
bring to society, said Mr R Ramakrishnan, Chairman of the BMA Awards
Committee.
Mr Deveshwar also spoke at a panel discussion on ‘India 2025
- Challenges and Solutions’, organised as part of the ceremony.
