Forest Stewardship Council (FSC)

Our FSC® certification is one more indicator of our continued pursuit for sustainability and commitment for a better tomorrow.

What is FSC®?
Forest Stewardship Council®(FSC®) Certification is a voluntary, market-based tool that supports responsible forest management worldwide. FSC®certified forest products are verified from the forest of origin through the supply chain. The FSC®label ensures that the forest products used are from responsibly harvested and verified sources.
FSC® awards two kinds of certifications:

FSC®-CoC: Verifies FSC®certified forest products through the production chain. Chain of Custody certifications is for companies that manufacture, process or trade in timber or non-timber forest products and want to demonstrate to their customers that they use responsibly produced raw materials. All our four manufacturing units - Bhadrachalam, Bollaram, Tribeni and Kovai - are FSC® CoC certified. (FSC®-C064218)

FSC®-FM: Forest Management Certification is given to owners/group managers of plantations and forests who want to prove that their forest operations are socially beneficial and managed in an environmentally appropriate and economically viable manner. ITC has received FSC®- FM certification (FSC®-C102390) as a Group Manager. As the Group Manager of the certification, ITC is responsible for ensuring adherence to the principles and criteria of FSC®.

FSC®is not a regulation but it is a globally accepted third party certification scheme which provides a credible link between responsible production and consumption of forest products, enabling consumers and businesses to make purchasing decisions that benefit people and the environment as well as providing ongoing business value. Consumers are becoming aware about the dangers of poor management of forest resources and its impact on the environment as well as the future.
